Iowa freshman Wisdom Williams earned a silver medal for the United States in the women's shot put final with a fifth-round mark of 49-8.25 (15.14m) at the Pan American U20 Championships at Jose A. Figueroa Freire Stadium in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Williams and Ole Miss commit Mensi Stiff, a recent graduate of Brentwood Academy in Tennessee who achieved a sixth-round effort of 54-9.50 (16.70m), took the top two spots for the Americans.
